Ralf Kanitz German Ministry CIFE EU Law

Ralf Kanitz teaches the course Constitutional Framework of the EU, European Citizenship and EU Fundamental Rights in the second academic year of the Executive Master in EU Studies. He also conducts the Simulation of a case before the ECJ and is responsible for the professional track EU law with the course Internal Market, Trade and Sustainability.

Ralf Kanitz is senior legal counsel at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin, Germany. He studied law in Tours (France), New York (USA), and Berlin. He holds law degrees from both Humboldt University Berlin and New York University School of Law. 

Before working for the German federal government he was a research fellow at Walter Hallstein Institute for European Constitutional Law at Humboldt University Berlin. His wider research interests include European Law and Comparative Constitutional law.

Since 2016 Ralf Kanitz is part of the EU Litigation Unit of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. He represents Germany before the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, both during the written procedure and the oral hearing. His areas of focus include state aid, direct taxation, and EU migration law.
