Online instead of face-to-face

The third workshop for the soon-to-graduate fellows of the Executive Master in EU Studies and their professors was supposed to take place in Barcelona.

Due to the special circumstances and thanks to the flexibility of teaching staff and participants, we held the workshop as a virtual one and gathered in front of our computers for research and professional paper presentations.

It was the time for the participants who live around the world, from Azerbaijan to Hawaii, from France to Egypt, from Austria to Turkey, to meet and work virtually during two intensive days.

For participants having chosen the research track, it was the moment to present their research papers to their supervisors and to exchange ideas with their peers on the future and place of cohesion and integration in the EU from a Nordic perspective, blue growth, association agreements between the EU & Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, the EU perception in Azerbaijan and a mini EU in the Western Balkans.

The professional track participants presented and discussed their policy briefs on topics like the green deal, the EU’s Mediterranean missions, the Western Balkans and the protection of financial interests from fraud and corruption.

After these presentations and debates, it was time to get together for a toast, almost like during a real workshop. Participants and teaching staff joined to say goodbye and to mark the beginning of the next phase of their studies.

They are now working on their final professional papers and master theses while working at the same time.

We wish them good luck and a lot of energy!
